My Start with the Jump on Board for Success (JOBS) Program:
Before the JOBS Program, I was at a low point in my life. I didn’t have any goals, or dreams, or ambition. I was struggling mentally, and it made me not want to do much of anything. I found comfort in the struggle.
I have difficulty accepting help, so when I first started with the JOBS Program, it had its ups and downs, but the people were consistent and supportive.
The program helped me mentally and provided me with the support to become a better version of myself.
I have my driver’s license now, something I never thought I would get. I’m studying for my GED, something I didn’t think I would accomplish, and I’m working for an after-school program, creating a career pathway that I never thought would happen.
I’m grateful for the support that I have received from the JOBS Program. They helped me branch out and find something that I love and will spend the rest of my life doing.
I have a dream now to become a teacher. Teachers can have such an impact on lives of children. I want kids to say, “I had the best teacher in elementary school, she was awesome.” That is the kind of teacher I want to be. That I am going to be.
I’m proud of the work that I’ve done to get to where I am and the work that I continue to do.
My advice for anyone who is thinking about connecting with JOBS:
To those that are on the fence about participating in the JOBS Program, you may not want to accept the help but do it anyways. Your future self will be so grateful.
